🎃 Spooky Season Challenge: A New Story is Born

October always brings a special kind of magic — the kind that creeps under your skin, whispers in the dark, and dares you to write something that gives even you chills.

This month, my co-artist and dear friend Elle and I took on a Spooky October Challenge: to write a spooky story before Halloween. I wasn’t sure how far I’d get, especially since I’m still deep in editing The Endless Dark, but sometimes inspiration doesn’t wait for a clean schedule.

So, I dove in.

And… I wrote 38,756 words. 👀

Yeah. That happened.

Taking this break from editing means my hope of finishing The Endless Dark edits might get pushed past Christmas — but honestly? I’m okay with that. Because this new story? It’s something special.

It’s a paranormal romance about a girl who can’t remember her past — but every night, she dreams of the moment her family was slaughtered. Her nightmares might hold the key to who she really is… and who (or what) is still watching her from the shadows.

It’s eerie, emotional, and a little bit tragic — the perfect October project.

Elle’s story turned out amazing too, and I can’t wait for us to share snippets from both of our works soon. For now, I’m letting my new characters haunt me a little longer while I plan what’s next for both them and The Endless Dark.

Sometimes stepping away from one story opens a door to another — and in my case, that door just happened to creak open in the middle of the night. 👻
