The Endless Dark Update!

Image
The Endless Dark is officially finished. The manuscript has been completed and has now been read by my first beta reader—and I’m thrilled to share that they loved it more than I ever expected. This story has lived in my head and heart for a long time, and seeing it finally reach this stage feels surreal. We’re now stepping into the next phase of the journey as I gather feedback and prepare for what comes next. Thank you to everyone who has been following along and supporting this process. The world of The Endless Dark is only just beginning to open up. I cannot wait for the next steps. I am so ready for this book to be out into the world ❤ Are you ready to step into the dark? -Rose R. Writing Update: A Temporary Pause

Image
I wanted to share a quick update about my writing. Over the past week, I’ve had to put writing on hold due to a possible autoimmune issue that has been causing significant swelling in my fingers. At times they’ve quite literally looked like sausages, which unfortunately makes typing and writing a bit difficult. Right now, I’m in the process of going through medical testing—including a recent biopsy—to try to get some answers about what’s going on. While I’m hopeful that this will lead to some clarity, it does mean that my writing schedule has had to slow down for the moment. If you know me, you know that writing is incredibly important to me, so stepping away from it—even temporarily—has been difficult. However, taking the time to focus on my health is something I need to do right now. My hope is that this pause will only be temporary and that I’ll be able to return to the keyboard soon. Thank you to everyone who has been patient and supportive. It truly means a lot. I am so close...

Almost There: A Peek Behind the Edits of The Endless Dark

Image
The final stretch is always the most intense—and the most thrilling. I’m almost done with the last round of edits for The Endless Dark , and I have to admit: it feels like standing at the edge of the cliff in my own story, staring down into the abyss, heart racing. Every revision has been about making the story sharper, the stakes higher, and the emotions—fear, grief, love—resonate more deeply. I’ve been combing through each scene, polishing dialogue, adjusting pacing, and making sure the world itself feels alive: the icy caverns, the storm-lashed cliffs, the pulse of magic beneath the surface. Soon, it will be ready for my incredible beta readers to step into this world. I can’t wait to see how they react to the darkness, the monsters, and the choices the characters must make. The tension, the peril, the fleeting moments of hope—it’s all there, refined and ready to breathe. This stage always feels like a quiet before the storm, a moment of holding my breath before I release the sto...

🎃 Spooky Season Challenge: A New Story is Born

Image
October always brings a special kind of magic — the kind that creeps under your skin, whispers in the dark, and dares you to write something that gives even you chills. This month, my co-artist and dear friend Elle and I took on a Spooky October Challenge : to write a spooky story before Halloween. I wasn’t sure how far I’d get, especially since I’m still deep in editing The Endless Dark , but sometimes inspiration doesn’t wait for a clean schedule. So, I dove in. And… I wrote 38,756 words . 👀 Yeah. That happened. Taking this break from editing means my hope of finishing The Endless Dark edits might get pushed past Christmas — but honestly? I’m okay with that. Because this new story? It’s something special. It’s a paranormal romance about a girl who can’t remember her past — but every night, she dreams of the moment her family was slaughtered. Her nightmares might hold the key to who she really is… and who (or what ) is still watching her from the shadows. It’s eerie, emotio...

Writing & Drawing Update

Writing & Drawing Update ✨🖤 Somehow between working full-time, wrangling kids, and chasing dogs who believe they’re faster than the speed of light 🐕💨… I am making progress! 📚 Edits: I’ve officially hit the halfway point on The Endless Dark ! 🎉 Progress is slow (see above chaos), but steady. Every stolen pocket of time—early mornings, late nights, and coffee-fueled weekends—gets me one step closer to a story I can’t wait to share with you. 🎨 Art: To celebrate, I’ve been sketching some of the characters, and now Rhordan, Vesna, Amara, and Keris (the Endless of Darkness) have faces on paper! It’s been a blast bringing them to life visually, even if they sometimes refuse to sit still in my imagination long enough for me to draw them. ✨ The Chaos Factor: Writing while parenting + working + dog-chasing = not for the faint of heart. But somehow, the mess makes it more magical. (Or maybe that’s just the coffee talking… ☕) Thank you for following along on this wild journ...

Into the Weeping Forest

Image
The Weeping Forest appeared as if from nowhere—a place that defies reason and beckons the unwary. Some whisper that it is rooted in the remnants of the Dark Army, that where they fell, darkness took root and grew into something alive, something hungry. Crossing the forest is no small feat. The black trees loom like silent sentinels, their twisted branches stretching toward the sky and gripping the earth with roots slick with dark sap. Broken skeletons litter the ground, frozen in the last grasp of life, reaching upward as if pleading for escape. Every step seems watched, every breath answered by screeching voices that echo from nowhere and everywhere. But the forest is not merely a landscape of death. It is a place of memory, too. Whispers of the past brush against your mind, stirring regrets long buried and moments that might have been. The Weeping Forest remembers. It hungers. It tests anyone foolish enough to step into its shadows. Even the bravest souls—werewolves like Rho...

Writing Update

🌅 Summer’s winding down, and it’s back to work… which means less time for editing! I’m currently 1/3 of the way through editing my book, and even with a busy season ahead, I’m determined to keep pushing forward. ✨ On top of that, I’ve been drawing my characters and plan to release them closer to the book’s launch—can’t wait to share them with you! 🎨📖 I’ve got some amazing beta readers lined up to give feedback soon, and their insights will be invaluable as I polish the story. Goal: Have the full book finished by December ! 🎯 It’s ambitious, but I know I can do it. Anyone else balancing work, life, and creative projects? I’d love to hear how you keep the momentum going!
